Virtual real estate

Today's "thanks god it's friday" subject  isn't about this excellent website  geopipi.com (discover it by yourself :-), but...architectural visualisation. Indusgeeks have uploaded a movie to YouTube to show that the ability to visualise, communicate and populate real estate is real, cheap and more importantly easy to do with today's toolset.

The idea is to divide virtual real estate into 3 parts (so that your clients could visualise the design)

  1. Location - Visualisation via Google Earth
  2. Scrutiny - Examining the building in 3D Max
  3. Second Life - Exploring the building within the virtual environment

What are we talking about ? Ok, look at the video and enjoy the music :

Don't trust your navigation device.

Ukreuterscom_2

This week TGIF's post comes from Reuters UK:

The first official road signs to warn drivers about the dangers of trusting their satellite navigation devices (satnavs) were introduced on Tuesday in a Welsh village.

The reason to warn drivers about placing too much faith in the directional gadgets is that more than dozen large trucks have become stuck in the road in the past six months.

So : Your GPS can be dangerous. Don't be afraid, just be carefull :-)

Google Romance

Picture001What's the mission of Google ? To organize the world's information, they say. And let's face it: In what area of life is the world's information more disorganized ? Romance, of course !

This is not a new product. But how many of you know Google Romance ? It's not only "Chat, find your soulmate, and find love" please. It's much more, a product "that offers users both a psychographic matchmaking service and all-expenses-paid dates for couples who agree to experience contextually relevant advertising throughout the course of their evening".

"We thought we could use our search technology to help you find that special someone, then send you on a date and use contextual ads to help you, ya know - close the deal" said Jonathan Rosenberg, Google's senior vice president, product management. Well, you see, that's so easy !

The secret behind Angelina's tattoos

Picture001_2

According to Daily Mail, the tattoo on Angelina Jolie's left arm has a very geospatial secret: It's list of lat/long coordinates showing the locations where her four children were born :

  1. Cambodia : Maddox
  2. Ethiopia : Zahara
  3. Namibian beach : Shiloh (Brad's baby)
  4. Vietnam : Paw Thien

Click here to see the exact locations.

Paparazzi p.s: Yes, it looks like an old tattoo that was covered up. Dave says that the new tattoo is located where she used to have Billy Bob tattoo on her arm :)
