The rumor has it that Google Earth will soon compete with Second Life : first CNNmoney.com, then Techcrunch and Michael Eisenberg, finally EirePreneur ! All of them believe that Google is working on using Google Earth-related technology to create an application similar to Second Life, an Internet based virtual world. In Second Life, you can interact with other people through the net by building avatars who represent yourself : it's an alternative 3D "universe". Last april, Google released a popular 3-D modeling program called SketchUp. It encourages developers to build 3-D layers on top of Google Earth. Isn't it a clue that Google Earth is actually moving in that direction ? Just wait and see...

Google Earth: Higher resolution with Spot Image
The french company Spot Image has entered into an agreement with Google in order to improve the available resolution of Google Earth products over wide areas of the world.
