F2 the thinnest GPS phone

Companylogo_2 It has been two years since its design phase but finally F2 GPS phone from dMedia have been showed at CES 2008.
This is the thinnest phone with integrated GPS chip, the preinstalled server based navigation software allows users to navigate through voice instruction.

You can see here the technical specs.  (it's not 3G of course) and no info about the price.

3D Navigation

No doubt, the next market for 3D cities is in-car usage for satellite navigation devices. TeleAtlas has already been working to launch 30 cities in the next few months. In fact, the ability to present the highly detailed 3D models  was achieved through a new  technology developed by GTA Geoinformatik GmbH, a German company with extensive experience in 3D geo-referenced visualization and modelling. And according to TeleAtlas, application developers are provided a range of options, from colored block models to colored facades and roofs with detailed texture with this technology :

Infospace Find It on Iphone

DMY let us know: InfoSpace launched a new application called Find It! for Apple iPhon. It's a premium local search application that offers millions of POI with eight search parameters to find businesses or services in a given locality (like Dine Out, Go Out, Shop, Travel, Health, Services, Number, and Person). You can read here the review of the Information Week : it says that Find It! is better than Google Search.

MapJack : Better than Google Street views ?

Do you know a site called MapJack ? Mapperz talked about it first -last week, it's a cool site offering street-level views that Google Maps Street View feature does, but with a better focus and a more interesting interface.  MapJack splits your browser window in two with a satellite street map in the bottom and a street-level photograph above . Images are crisp and clear, the quality is even better than Google’s ! You can place “Jack” on any of the blue dots on the map, and you can also click on the dots in the photo to move him around. Personnalize your google maps with contents

This is a google site where you can create your maps and add mapplets. Mapplets are Google Maps mashups that you can view right from Google Maps. You can choose to use mapplets or add contents, it's easy and cool. Just log in with your Google account, click the My Maps tab, then the "Add Content" link. Browse for content that look interesting, add them to Google Maps !

Free ViaMichelin maps on all new Motorola phones

Viamichelin_logoViaMichelin has announced a partnership agreement with Motorola, Rough Guides and Creativity Software Ltd to provide mapping content for Motorola's mobile phones. The new application developed by Creativity Software Ltd, will be preloaded onto all new handsets, they are maps for over 200 cities across 33 European countries. Just note : This isn’t a GPS-based service, it means that you will have all the map data in your Motorola mobile, and you'll have to manually work out where you are before you can reference the maps.
